WCEF2024 Accelerator Session: Strengthening National Climate Plans through Circular Action

The accelerator session will share exclusive insights on how to enhance circularity in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) on climate change. It will give a preview on the upcoming Guidance to Strengthen NDC Ambitions through Circular Action developed by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Trinomics and discuss challenges and opportunities with decision makers and experts. The event will also cover next steps for enhanced consideration of circularity in climate planning, including for the requested NDC update next year. This event is an accelerator session at the World Circular Economy Forum 2024 (WCEF 2024).

 

 

Objectives of the session:

  • Share insights of the upcoming NDC Guidance by GIZ and Trinomics and outline added value to existing products to increase circularity of NDCs
  • Emphasize the potential of NDCs to accelerate circular action
  • Learn from partner countries perspectives and needs for enhancing NDC circularity
  • Outline NDC update process and opportunities for integrating circular economy

 

Target group:

  • Circular economy community/practitioners interested in climate policies and how to emphasize circular economy
  • Experts and decision makers from EU partner countries and development agencies/donors

 

When & where:

  • When: 17 April, 1:00-2:30 pm CEST
  • Where: GIZ Representation Brussels, Leopold Plaza, Rue du Trône 108, 1050 Brussels and online
  • The accelerator session will take place in a hybrid format. The focus will be on guests joining in-person to enhance personal connections. However, we will provide the opportuniy to listen in online and submit questions for the panel in the chat.
