WCEF2025 Accelerator Session: From ideas to impact – how accelerator & innovation programmes foster innovation
Accelerator and innovation programmes around the world are supporting innovative solutions on the ground. This session presented practical lessons from two innovation and accelerator programmes: Innovate2PREVENT by the PREVENT Waste Alliance & Yunus Environment Hub and Towards Zero Waste by GIZ & BambuUp in Viet Nam. These programmes support innovators in plastics, e-waste, organic waste and digitalisation to develop and scale their circular business approaches.
💡 Keynote by Pieter van Os (CIRCO)
In this WCEF2025 Accelerator Session, Pieter van Os (CIRCO) held an inspiring keynote on the role of innovation for the circular economy and a range of innovators shared their solutions, real-world challenges, actionable insights and needs to scale:

- Upstream solutions to plastic pollution with Why Waste Wednesdays: Reducing plastics with a “Borrow a Bag” program in India.
- Digital solutions for a circular economy with Center for Competitive Skills: Creating a circular economy platform in Albania.
- Valorising agricultural waste with Lemit Foods: Turning young jackfruits, an agricultural by-product, into plant-based meat alternatives in Viet Nam
