WCEF2025 Accelerator Session – Achieving Climate Goals through Circularity
The accelerator session will explore how circular economy (CE) approaches can enhance the effectiveness of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in meeting climate goals.
Despite only a quarter of countries explicitly including CE in their NDCs, many climate measures already align with circular principles. This session will showcase practical applications of CE in climate planning, focusing on Colombia and Brazil, and introduce GIZ’s Circular NDC Activity Sheets as a key tool for driving circular action.
Through interactive discussions, participants will assess the potential of CE strategies to support climate mitigation and adaptation across sectors. The session will also outline next steps for integrating CE into NDC updates, ensuring stronger climate commitments ahead of the next revision cycle. This event is an accelerator session at the World Circular Economy Forum 2025 (WCEF2025).
