This WCEF2026 accelerator session explores how circular finance ecosystems can accelerate the transition from promising pilot projects to large-scale implementation. While access to finance is widely recognised as a critical enabler of the circular economy, practical experiences from emerging and developing economies remain underrepresented in global discussions.
The session addresses this gap by examining how policy frameworks, financial instruments, capacity building, and investment ecosystems can work together to unlock greater investment in circular solutions.
Drawing on practical experiences from Eastern and Southern Africa, Sri Lanka, and Brazil, speakers will share lessons from initiatives that support circular enterprises through revolving funds, grants, financial sector engagement, sustainable finance taxonomies, investment mapping, and financing transparency tools. Case studies will span sectors including plastics, electronics, and organic waste.
Bringing together development organisations, financial institutions, circular economy networks, and investment funds, the session will highlight practical approaches to scaling circular finance across diverse regional contexts. Participants will gain actionable insights into successful financing models and explore how they can be adapted and replicated to advance an inclusive, globally relevant circular transition.

We are currently exploring the possibility of also offering online participation, but this cannot yet be confirmed.
