Whereabouts unknown – plastic tracing technologies for circularity
Plastic materials often move through complex global value chains, making it difficult to track their composition, origin, and end-of-life pathways. Limited transparency can hinder effective recycling, reduce material value, and complicate efforts to build a circular economy for plastics.
This webinar introduces a new publication authored by Wuppertal Institute & GIZ which explores how plastic traceability can improve transparency along plastic value chains and support higher recycling rates. Presented by two of the authors, it offers a systematic overview of current and emerging tracing technologies – such as digital product passports and physical tracers – and discusses their implications, particularly for stakeholders in the Global South.

- Henning Wilts (Wuppertal Institute)

- Filiz Jaetzold (GIZ)
