PREVENT Regional Best Practice Exchange for India & Southeast Asia – Spotlight on Green Worms

In preparation for WCEF, we are offering a regional exchange series for PREVENT members who are based in or active across India and the Southeast Asian region.

The webinar series will provide space for members to:

• showcase their circular economy journey and achievements
• share lessons learned and challenges encountered (particularly around scaling business models)
• discuss expectations and recommendations for national and regional policymakers

Join us for the first session on 9 July at 11:00 CEST (16:30 IST) with a:

• Spotlight on Green Worms (by Akshay Gunteti) – a social enterprise building circular waste systems to end waste, pollution, and poverty. Green Worms partners with local governments, brands, and manufacturers to develop inclusive waste value chains in rural and remote communities. By formalizing and integrating waste collection partners into the circular economy, they create dignified livelihoods while ensuring safe working conditions and fair incomes. The recovered materials are then recycled and upcycled into high quality secondary raw materials and circular products, enabling circularity, improving resource efficiency, and reducing environmental impact.
• Brief input by GIZ India (by Jai Kumar Gaurav) – on their lessons learned from the Risk Sharing Facility (RSF), which guarantees up to 50% of debt for waste sector entrepreneurs in India. This was set up by the Mitigation Action Facility-funded project ‘Waste Solutions for a Circular Economy in India’. It has supported seven entrepreneurs with €2.01 million in guarantees, which has helped to mobilise €4.02 million in financing.
