Public Webinar on Improving Social Safeguards and Traceability in the Plastic Value Chains organised by Verra and PCX Solutions – hosted by PREVENT

We would like to invite you to a public webinar on “Improving Social Safeguards and Traceability in the Plastic Value Chains” on 16 July at 2 pm CEST, organised by Verra and PCX Solutions and hosted by PREVENT.

Plastic recycling value chains are often fragmented and data-poor in the early stages, when integrity and safeguarding risks can be at their highest. Meanwhile, buyers, policymakers, and investors are increasingly seeking credible, verifiable information on material flows and social and environmental practices. Better standards and data systems can help make informal and decentralized parts of the supply chain more integrated and visible by setting best practice requirements and capturing information needed to strengthen safeguards (e.g., worker inclusion, health and safety practices, and grievance mechanisms).

This webinar, organized by Verra and PCX Solutions, is intended to be a practice-oriented, implementation-focused dialogue and joint learning and collaboration forum to share practical lessons on what “good” social standards and traceability mechanisms look like in plastic recovery and recycling contexts.

The webinar aims to:

  • Share practical approaches from plastic waste management certification standard setters on strengthening traceability and social safeguards in the plastic recovery and recycling value chains.
  • Discuss how Responsible Sourcing Initiative’s harmonized framework can support responsible sourcing and safeguards, including visibility at the point of collection.
  • Explore perspectives from brands on how they can contribute to improving informal sector integration
  • Surface common challenges and emerging good practices that can be used to improve implementation and alignment across initiatives.
