Preventing Plastic Pollution | Circular Ideas from PREVENT’s Innovation Programme

At the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, UN members agreed to negotiate a legally binding treaty to end plastic pollution. We would like to celebrate this milestone by giving you an insight into our current innovation programme!

Join our event on 07 April, 10am – 11am CEST, to learn more about promising approaches to prevent plastic pollution currently being developed in the Innovate & PREVENT contests!

The event will be opened by Dr. Ingolf Dietrich, Head of the Division “2030 Agenda; Social and Environmental Transformation; Feminist Development Policy” at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

After his opening words, two ideas from each of our current innovation challenges will be presented in short pitches:

  • Preventing single-use plastics in the food and beverage sector in South and Southeast Asia (The SUP Challenge, implemented by The Incubation Network)
  • Preventing plastic pollution through behaviour change programmes (BE.Innovative contest, implemented by Rare’s Center for Behavior & the Environment)

Following the pitches, selected circular economy experts from PACE – Platform for Accelerating the Circular Economy, OECD, Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development will give feedback to the presenting teams and discuss their solutions to combat plastic pollution.
