Leadership Training for Multipliers

We started 2023 with an exciting leadership training for multipliers!

We are truly honoured to have worked with an amazing group of 15 circular economy changemakers from Argentina, Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Nepal, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Georgia, Greece, UK, Austria and Germany.

The training took place at Circular Valley in Wuppertal, Germany.

WCEF2022 Accelerator Session: Practical Implementation of the Basel PIC Procedure for Exporters from Developing Countries

On the 8th of December 2022, the StEP Initiative, Closing the Loop and the PREVENT Waste Alliance co-organized the session “Basel PIC Procedure for Exporters from Developing Countries”.

This event was an Accelerator Session at the World Circular Economy Forum 2022 (www.WCEF2022.com).

We cordially invite you to participate in our Basel Convention COP side event “Environmentally Sound Management for E-waste, Circular Economy and Trade”.

The side event is organised by the PREVENT Waste Alliance and GIZ and co-organised by our partner organisations StEP – Solving the E-waste Problem Initiative, World Economic Forum and Circular Electronics Partnership.

PREVENT Waste Alliance ends 2020 with first general assembly and officially launches 8 pilot projects

The PREVENT Waste Alliance came together virtually for its first general assembly. In addition to a thank you video message from the German Development Minister Gerd Müller (BMZ), the focus was on the communication of the pilot projects, which will now be implemented until June 2022.

The EPR Toolbox was finalised and published

The toolbox on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging has been finalised and we are pleased to announce that the material of the toolbox is now available for download. The EPR Toolbox contains various training materials which, among other things, explain how an EPR system can be established, what possible financing mechanisms exist and how the informal sector can be involved in a sustainable waste management as well.

First Meeting of the Steering Committee

The members of the PREVENT steering committee met for the first time on 28 January. In an open exchange, the actors got to know each other and discussed the structure, design and strategic orientation of PREVENT. They are now optimistic about the joint plans for 2020.

Official launching event

Berlin

Minister Müller of the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has officially launched the PREVENT Waste Alliance together with the Indonesian Ambassador and over 30 organizations in Berlin on 9 May 2019. The Alliance is part of the Action Program on Circular Economy of the German Development Cooperation.
