Pedro Moura Costa was elected as new representative to the steering committee

Pedro Moura Costa is the new representative of the civil society stakeholder group in the PREVENT steering committee. The 15 civil society members of the PREVENT Waste Alliance elected him to his new position in July 2020. From 15 August 2020 he will represent their interests together with Simone Walter (Help e.V.).

Pedro Moura Costa (born 1963, in Brazil) is an entrepreneur involved in environmental finance. In 2011 he co-founded BV Rio with his brother Mauricio. BV Rio is a non-profit organisation with the mission to promote the use of market mechanisms to facilitate the pursuit of environmental objectives. In 2013 they launched the Reverse Logistics Credit system to reward waste pickers in Brazil conducting waste recovery and recycling. In 2020, BV Rio is launching the Circular Action Hub, connecting local waste management projects around the world with companies, donors and investors interested in supporting the circular economy.

Within the steering committee Pedro would like to advocate for the topic of leveraging public funding with private sector capital. His slogan is “Waste not, want not: inclusion for circularity”. Welcome Pedro, we are looking forward to the close cooperation!
