INAS GmbH – Institute for Applied Sustainability

The Institute for Applied Sustainability (inas) is a private research institute based in Ingolstadt. It is an affiliated institute of Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences (THI) and the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. inas combines a wealth of sustainability expertise with an entrepreneurial approach, adding entrepreneurial spirit and innovation to many years of experience in various areas of sustainability. The institute's main focuses – "Sustainability in small and medium-sized businesses," "Resources and the circular economy," "Strategies and organisations" and "Dissemination of knowledge" – provide the framework for its work.

Sustainable development is a joint task. Challenges can only be overcome and opportunities seized through strong partnerships and collaboration. We want to share our expertise in sustainability management and the implementation of sustainability solutions. We believe cooperations that are actually seeking to achieve something are hugely important. Collaboration creates added value for research, teaching and practice. Collaboration in the true sense of the word. That is why it is so important to us to be part of a network that believes we can achieve more if we work together.

The wasteful consumption of natural resources is continuing to increase globally at pace. The global population is living as if it has 1.75 earths at its disposal. Based on Germany’s resource consumption, we would actually need three earths. We are therefore working on concrete solutions that will reduce the consumption and optimise the use of resources, and on concepts that will facilitate the establishment of a circular economy. Waste and resource management are our core areas of expertise. We say: Waste is just a resource that is in the wrong place! And that is where we come in.
