First transaction on Circular Action Hub, the 1st circular economy marketplace

Brazilian company purchases Circular Credits to demonstrate compliance with local solid waste regulation. Transaction independently verified by SGS.

The first transaction has taken place on the Circular Action Hub, the 1st global marketplace for the circular economy. Beverage company Reflexa purchased Circular Credits™ to demonstrate compliance with the Brazilian Solid Waste Regulation. The credits relate to plastics recovered from the environment, by two waste picker cooperatives in Rio de Janeiro.

The transaction was independently verified by SGS. In the process, SGS piloted the use of the new Auditing and Verification Protocol of the Circular Credits Mechanism.

Founded by global non-profit BVRio, the Circular Action Hub connects waste management initiatives in developing countries with international sources of finance. The Hub focuses on fairness for local communities; its ‘learning by doing’ approach reflects diverse conditions around the world.
