E-nnovating Workshop Series: Building an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Scheme for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in Quito

For the Spanish version of this announcement please visit the website of the Municipality of Quito.

The pilot project “E-nnovating Quito – Sustainable E-Waste Management Supported by Collect-and-Learn Vehicles” engages all relevant local and national institutions in a workshop series “E-nnovating – building Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in Quito”.
The workshop series starts with a general introduction to the principles of EPR, but will also dive deeper into the national and subnational policy framework and its implications for a local EPR. Finally, a blueprint for a local EPR in Quito will be discussed with all relevant stakeholders. The workshops will be held in Spanish to facilitate the engagement with and between the key stakeholders within the value chain.

Participation is by invitation only.

The e-nnovating pilot project supports the design and trial of the first e-waste collection and EPR scheme in Ecuador, in the context of the new Circular Economy Law. It develops policy recommendations and builds stakeholder commitment. Additionally, 2 mobile units are launched that serve as collection and learning centres for Quito’s inhabitants.
