CHILAMBO GENERAL TRADE COMPANY LTD

Chilambo General Trade Company Limited is a registered private company in Tanzania dealing chiefly with e-waste management. Its core activities include collection, transportation and storage of the waste at its facilities pending further disposal processes. Other activities include dismantling, sorting and classifying the dismantled fractions into waste of like nature, e.g. metals, plastics, glass, electrical and electronic parts etc. The waste fractions are separately stored according to their class pending their further safe and disposal processes that also involve waste reduction, reuse and recycling. Parts of e-waste that cannot be recycled in the country, are exported to Europe for recycling.

To learn new and appropriate ways of managing e-waste from other members as well as share practical experiences between members on how e-waste is being managed in their respective countries. Also, to learn from technologically advanced countries about suitable recycling facilities that we can acquire to safely and sustainably recycle e-waste that usually contains many potentially dangerous substances as well as valuable metals.
To find solutions to recycle the most polluting e-waste fractions and other hazardous fractions from other members that cannot be recycled or safely disposed of in the country such as CRT monitors, lithium ion batteries, etc.

Chilambo General Trade Company Limited partly contributes to the circular economy through exercising integrated e-waste management by exploiting safe disposal channels of waste reduction, reuse and recycle that aims to keep products, equipment and infrastructure in use for longer, thus improving the productivity of these resources. Our operational process at our storage facility include licensed collection transportation, dismantling, sorting and storage of e-waste and other hazardous and non-hazardous fractions pending shipment of the same to local and international companies for reuse and/or recycling.
